It’s definitely okay to mix and match, after years of being a product junkie… you eventually realize that not all products within a haircare line works for you. It’s best to mix and match if needed to get the desired look, moisture content and health for your hair.

      Charla W says:

I mix and match my products, but I do also like to use products from the same line because I know they’ll play well together. If I can afford it, I’ll buy all the products from one line that I would like to try.

I have tried using a complete line of products and only got lackluster results, but by mixing products sometimes I’ve found a good match.

Burnt Sugar pomade has been a product that I used when I was a loose natural and even as a loc’d natural. I love the juices too. (ALL of them)…finally that Honey Hemp condish is lovely! You just can’t go wrong with any of their products. I found this company thru Erin (Scandelous Beauty)

I like to mix and match. Some lines have the best moisturizers some have amazing stylers. So for me that means using what my hair likes regardless of the line.

      aileen says:

I like to mix and match because I don’t need everything a hair care line provides. For example, I don’t need hair butters, I have plenty of oils to use.

My hair has a polygamous relationship with brands so It’s definitely okay by me to mix and match based on its needs, which also gives me an excuse to indulge my product junkie-ism :)

      Naresa G. says:

Mixing and matching works well for me. I find that products in the same family line tend to contain the same ingredients and formulations. Mixing and matching gives me a good combination of ingredients my hair loves.

I mix and match all the time. I love to experiment with different lines and see which combos give me the best outcome. Just because one product of a line works for you doesn’t mean they all will.

      Bernadette says:

I love to try compatible products from different product lines. I don’t subscribe to the “you need to use the full line” to reap the benefit as I have found that I could love one item from a product line while not particularly caring for other products in that line. It is rare that I will only use only one product line….Shea Moisture, Oyin and Curl Junkie are the ones that come to mind.

      Co says:

Of course it’s ok to mix and match. I have to. Diversifying is key to ensuring that all my hair needs are met.

I do not mind mixing and matching. Sometimes one product in a line may not work for me. So I don’t mind making my own combinations for what works for my hair.

      Jennifer G. says:

I like to try products from the same line together if I can. If I don’t care for all of the products I will mix and match with a product from another line.

I love to mix and match!!! I’m still in the TWA stage so I’m finding out what does and does not work for my hair as well as what products work harmoniously together or give me the little white balls ( trial and error). Mixing and matching has helped me in this process.

I’m a mix and match person. Out of a line I normally will try 2 items. If it’s a good line I will circle back and try the entire line. I also order based on what I’m low on at the moment. Right now I’m skipping hair butters and leaving conditioners but I’m on the prowl for hair creams and shampoos.

      Nicole says:

I have tried to use full product lines but I think that it is all about what your hair says to you (how it feels). If you can get your products to all “play nice” with each other then I think your hair will definitely benefit from it.

      Adrianne says:

      Nefertiti says:

I find that even though I have intentions of trying the complete line, that due to the ingredients/ /formulations I end up not interested in all the products from one company. I think that came with time and learning what my hair liked best. This is a great company though and I have all of these– awesome giveaway!

      LaToya says:

I prefer not to mix and match. I tend to think that products from the same line are created to work together so I like to use them that way. So I hate to buy just one product from a line. I need at least the conditioner and leave-in!

    50. 12
      De'Aura says:

I love to mix and match products! Mainly because I have found that some products work better with others…as in the meet the complete needs of my hair. Plus my hair may not like everything in the hair line. I just listen to my hair and do what ever she wants ;)

      Terri says:

I like to mix and match

    52. 10
      Adriane says:

Ideally, I would like to use products from the same line because they often compliment one another, but is not always the case. I often mix and match though because all products do not work in my hair from my favorite product lines.

    53. 9
      tianna says:

I am def a mix match girl though if a line has an amazing product, I am more inclined to try other products from the line!

    54. 8
      Danielle says:

When I’m first trying out a product I prefer to use it in conjunction with it’s line to see how it plays in ‘optimal conditions’, plus I have sort of an OCD “collect them all” mentality. I think it’s necessary to mix and match eventually though! The best HG combinations are always from different lines!

    55. 7
      Tlynnsmith says:

I like to try the complete line. I’m definitely a mix and match girl – it kinda goes with being a PJ. But sometimes mixing it up doesn’t give me an accurate assessment of a product’s performance. Some products do work best, when used with other products from the same line – or used alone.

    56. 6
      Kathy says:

I’m ok with mixing and matching products. The key is to determine which products “play well” with others. Not to mention, my individual needs may not be met by the entire line, so just using specific products are more practical and easier on the pocketbook!

    57. 5
      Tayec says:

It’s okay to mix and match. Some products of one line may work better with products from different than if you just stuck to one line.

    58. 4
      Angelique says:

I am a mix & match kind of girl whatever works for my hair.

    59. 3
      Chelsea Long says:

I prefer using the entire line because it may work better when used all together. However, sometimes you have to add a little oomph and go outside the line!

    60. 2
      Shay72 says:

Mixing & matching is fine because one product line may not have all the products to meet the needs of your hair.

    61. 1
      Caitlyn H. says:

Mixing and matching is perfectly fine! ONe product line may not exclusively work for you, so it’s best to listen to your hair’s needs. And if that means mixing and matchin the that’s ok!
